Side setback

By Struqt’s architects · Updated June 2026

Minimum distance from each side lot boundary to the building. Some zones require larger side setbacks for taller portions of the building.

What it means for what you can build

Side setbacks protect neighbour amenity and can increase for taller portions of a building — a key constraint for two-storey designs on tight lots.
